Dental implants or dentures Columbia helps in restoring teeth among people who have lost their original ones due to physical trauma or decay. This process, just like others, has some side effects as well. However, the patient must be fully aware of all the expected side effects and their management so they can immediately refer to their dental health provider in case of an emergency.

After the surgical procedure, the patient may experience specific side effects, which are as follows:

  • Slight Pain

It is entirely natural to observe slight pain and discomforting feelings after the surgical process. The pain will be more in the initial days following the surgery. It will slowly reduce with time as your mouth starts healing. If the pain is too much, consume the painkiller medicines your dental health provider prescribed to manage it effectively. Such medicines are helpful in cases of severe pain only.

  • Appearance of blood

The patient may expect some blood level in their saliva after the surgery. The bleeding is from the incisions made during the surgery. They generally do not last for more than a few days after the process. To reduce the chances of bleeding after the surgical process, make sure to stay away from heavy exercises or activities involving strength. Your priority must be on resting and relaxing your mouth. If the bleeding persists for more than a few days, make sure to contact your dental health provider.

  • Sensitive teeth and gum area

You may experience tenderness near the area surrounding the gum line. The tenderness can be felt near the placement of dental implants as well as the surrounding bone, gum tissues, and teeth. As the healing process starts, the sensitivity and tenderness will be gone with time. To effectively handle your sensitive teeth, make sure to consume only lukewarm meals and drinks. Do not eat meals with spices or crumbs in them as they are known for irritating the places where incisions are done in your mouth during the surgery.

  • Discolored gum

Make sure to expect bruises and discoloration near the gum tissue after the surgery. The discolored marks will not stay long, and you will notice them start feeding after some days.

  • Swellings

Your gum tissue will swell after the surgical process. Just like discoloration, the swelling will also disappear after some days, and you will not be able to notice it near your gums.

After your dental implant surgery, speak to your dentist if you feel any symptoms mentioned above.
